Darya Katyba (1990) is a young soprano that was born in Russia,
grew up in Ukraine and eventually ended up living in Norway (Fredrikstad).
She began to sing and perform on the stage already at the age of 4.
Darya took her Bachelor grade in vocal performance of classical music
at the Norwegian Academy of music under the guidance of professor Barbro Marklund-Petersone.
She finished her Masters at the University of Agder
under the guidance of professor Neil Mackie in 2015. At the same time,
in the year 2014-2015 she was studying as an Exchange student at the
Sibelius Academy (Helsinki) with professor Outi Kähkönen.
During her Masters she also visited the Royal Academy of Music and the
Royal College of Music in London where she had possibility
to take lessons with a lot of talented and well known musicians.
Darya is an open minded singer. She has a wide repertoire that
includes musical pieces of jazz, chanson, early, classical, folk and contemporary music origin.
She cooperates with professional musicians from different countries, takes part in projects around
the whole Norway and arranges her own concerts. In october 2016 she arranged her own first
festival – St.Birgit Early Music Festival in Fredrikstad.
She is also regularly used as a choir instructor, conducts her own choir
and gives singing lessons. Darya is always looking forward to new challenges and constantly develops
her musical horizons.
